The truth about timeshares

  A resale market for timeshares has long been referred to as the missing link in the timeshare industry. By any measure, the resale market is extremely depressed and most owners cannot sell their timeshare or vacation ownership at any price. Most of the resale companies in the industry charge upfront fees simply to list your timeshare, but the buyers that they promise never materialize. Maintenance fees are raised every year and owners must pay these fees regardless of whether or not they use their timeshare. Due to the duration of the timeshare contracts, every owner reaches a point where they realize that timeshare ownership doesn't make sense for them like it had in the past.When owners realize that their timeshare or vacation ownership is not working for them, getting out has been close to impossible. Resorts contribute to the problem by renting out timeshares to the general public. Many owners complain that the rates offered to renters at their home resort are less than what they pay in fees as an owner.

Facts about timeshares;
